The project titled “Creating Zero Waste Awareness in Zile Villages and Waste-to-Art Transformation Practices,” prepared by the Social Youth Club of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Zile Vocational School in cooperation with the Zile Youth Center, has been approved for support within the scope of the ÜNIDES 2026 Special Call – Environment and Climate.
In the ÜNIDES 2026 Special Call, which supports projects in the field of “Environment and Climate” submitted by university-approved student communities and clubs, the Zile Vocational School Social Youth Club applied with an environmental and sustainability-focused project prepared in cooperation with the Zile Youth Center.
Through the project titled “Creating Zero Waste Awareness in Zile Villages and Waste-to-Art Transformation Practices,” activities will be carried out in two selected pilot villages in Zile district focusing on zero waste, waste separation at source, recycling, and environmental awareness.
As part of the project, students from the Zile Vocational School Social Youth Club and the Zile Youth Center, in cooperation, will organize zero-waste, climate change, and recycling awareness activities for local residents, as well as environmental clean-up and waste collection activities. Awareness activities will also be conducted regarding the separate collection of agricultural pesticide containers and their disposal in accordance with environmental regulations.
One of the prominent activities of the project will be the “From Waste to Art Recycling Exhibition.” Recyclable materials collected during the project will be transformed into artistic and functional objects together with students and local residents, and the resulting works will be exhibited in village squares. Environmental-themed quizzes and educational activities for children will also be organized to support environmental awareness from an early age.
The project aims to promote a culture of zero waste and recycling in villages, contribute to reducing environmental pollution, protect soil and water resources, and strengthen cooperation among the university, youth center, and local communities.
Through the cooperation between the Zile Vocational School Social Youth Club and the Zile Youth Center, the project aims to bring university students’ knowledge, energy, and volunteer spirit together with the local community and encourage young people to take an active role in environmental initiatives.
The experiences and practices gained through the project are planned to be extended to other villages in the future, transforming the project into a sustainable environmental and social responsibility model.
