Zile Vocational School hosted a panel entitled "The Climate Is Changing: Who Will Be the First to Change?", focusing on climate change, sustainability, and individual responsibility.
The keynote speaker of the panel was Yasemin Mıstıkoğlu, a producer and climate journalist who began her journalism career at the Anadolu Agency in 1992 and later worked for leading Turkish media organizations, including ATV, Star TV, NTV, Kanal D, and TRT.
Drawing on her extensive professional experience and her recent work in climate journalism, Ms. Mıstıkoğlu emphasized that the climate crisis is not only an environmental issue but also a social challenge. She shared valuable insights with students, raising awareness through her engaging presentation and highlighting the importance of individual action in addressing climate change.
The panel was further enriched by the contributions of Environmental Engineer Ayşegül Polattimur and Dr. Esin Hande Bayrak Işık, Coordinator of the Zero Waste Management Unit, who served as the moderator.
As part of the event, the results of the Short Film Competition on Zero Waste and the Environment were announced, and awards were presented to the winning students.
In accordance with Ms. Yasemin Mıstıkoğlu's request, a tree was planted on our campus in her name instead of presenting a commemorative plaque and flowers, symbolizing our shared commitment to environmental sustainability.
